Eigenfaces and Viola-Jones Face Detection

This week we’ll look at “Eigenfaces.” Here’s the original 1991 CVPR paper by Turk and Pentland on what was arguably one of the first successful face recognition techniques. It uses the ideas from PCA that we discussed this past week. We’ll also look at the “Viola-Jones” algorithm which has become the nearly de-facto way to detect faces in images.
