Assignment 01 - Math Warm-Up

Complete these problems by Thursday’s class meeting. Either bring a neatly written copy of your solutions to class or upload to the Assignment-1 slot on Canvas (just a barebones upload spot); please ensure that your electronic copy is clearly readable with good contrast if a photo or scan of written work.
(For the “number 2” problem for constructing a rotation matrix, please make a 3-dimensional rotation matrix).

You may find useful the linear algebra and trigonometry review in the Appendices from Real-Time Rendering (now posted on the book website http://realtimerendering.com.

Also, in preparation for our first shader project, at some point this week, read this fundamental paper which discusses what has become a basic material model for a wide variety of graphics applications over the years. We’ll be implementing this in a GLSL fragment shader.

For next week: Procure the Real-Time Rendering text and read chapters 1-2. (If you do not yet have the book, the free Amazon Kindle sample includes the first three chapters). If you also have procured the Advanced Global Illumination book, read chapter 1 and chapter 2 through section 2.2.
