Complete this Pluralsight Course: Substance Designer Fundamentals. It would be beneficial given time to complete the exercise as you follow along, but there will be no required submission regarding. Each person should have a Pluralsight account invitation now.

Begin this Pluralsight Course and aim for completing at least the first half if not all of the course: Substance Painter Fundamentals. Following along is always useful but less pertinent on this example. Substance Painter is a bit quicker to pick-up the main concepts versus Designer.

Read chapter 6 in Real-time Rendering on texture mapping.

Read Ken Perlin’s 1985 paper “An Image Synthesizer” that presents his noise technique that has become ubiquitous in computer graphics. Also, read Value Noise and Perlin Noise on Scratchapixel.
