MC33989 : System Base Chip with High Speed CAN

The MC33989 is a monolithic integrated circuit combining many functions frequently used in microcontroller based systems. A fully protected fixed 5.0 V low drop regulator output with current limit, over temperature pre-warning, and reset provides power for CAN and the MCU. The MC33989 also provides the drive and sense inputs necessary to implement a second 5.0 V regulator, sing an external series pass PNP, that is resistor ratio adjustable to meet peripheral needs. MC33989 has normal, standby, stop, nd sleep modes, an internally switched high-side power supply voltage output with four wake-up inputs, programmable window Watch-Dog, Interrupt, Reset, high speed CAN transceiver for module-to-module communication, and SPI input control. The combination is an economical solution for providing power, high speed communication, and control needed for MCU based systems.
