1. Read the first three chapters in the textbook

2. Visit www.sei.cmu.edu/productlines/index.html

This is the general product line site for the SEI. Take a look at the list of technical reports and pick one to read. These reports and other sources will be used to update the material in the book. Prepare a 5 minute summary of the report.

3. Visit www.sei.cmu.edu/productlines/ppl/

This is an example product line that was developed at Clemson for use by the SEI in explaining product lines to others. Read the overview and the business case documents.

6. Setup the most recent version of Eclipse from here.

7. Install the feature modeling software into your Eclipse setup from here. You must use “unzip” to extract the contents of the jar file that we download.
