A face that launched a thousand sheets of paper. I love to draw in coffee shops...people are much stranger than fiction. They are inspiration for films and characters. Popeye was based on a real live figure in Segar's southern Illinois town of Chester, and I feel my work is no different. These faces, or some of them at least, where drawn at Sweetwater Cafe in downtown Ann Arbor. You may find me sitting in the back of the coffee house with a little red sketch book trying to be inconspicuous...though I have caught the eye of some of my subjects...but I haven't been punched out yet.
