Token Life, is an observation of how society has reduced all human interaction into mere tokens. By today’s standards, the technology of “tokens” seems primative compared to the palm pilots, cell phones, and ID cards consumed by modern society, but nonetheless illustrates our lost touch of human interaction. The story centers around a figure lost in his world of tokens. All his needs are met by simply dropping a coin into a slot. His alienation and disparity are relfected through the neon signs, blinking lights, and empty windows. In a way his coins are like pills which leads to addiction to gambling, sex, and caffeine. The story ends in a unique twist with redemption and suprise. The design of Token Life was influence by painters Edward Hopper, and Richard Estes. The score was composed by Eddie Sams.
