Snowpea and Tofu

A silly little story, really. What happens when you put two simple soybeans into a terror of vegetarian hell? You get Mad cows, cowaring cabbages, and an evil clown (every film needs an evil clown). Being a vegetarian, I thought this would be an opportunity to ridicule myself. I was thinking what I could get away with in terms of simple character design and get the most in entertainment value without the audience suspecting a thing. There's something to be said about a cube and a sliver. They provided me the joy of easy animation, though I still manage to draw off model.

Snowpea & Tofu premiered in Beverly Hills at the Museum of T.V. & Radio. I produced this film while at CalArts, but I wouldn't call it a typical Calarts film. Far from it. I produced the bulk of the film on my own system, and had the score and final video output done back up in Seattle at 911 media arts. My trusted composer Eddie Sams did another remarkable job. This time he was aided by his mom, Carol Sams. We all sat in a room at KING FM 98.7 and Eddie brought in a big box of toy instruments. We had more fun than pre-schoolers at birthday party. Personally I think the music IS the film. Eddie's worth every penny, (I still owe him a few).
